Art & Craft 2018: Traditional Crafts/ Crefftau Traddodiadol
Marvel at the expertise and technique on show as you watch these time-served traditional crafters at work. Mandy Coates, willow basket maker; Rosie Farey, rush basket maker; John Burke and Mike Bithell, greenwood work including hurdle making; Adrian Farey, timber framing; plus stone walling and wood turning; Chrissy Smith, wool crafts; Rhian Wyn Jones, blacksmith.
A new addition to our traditional craft area is Dylan Jones, coracle maker who will be bringing an exhibition tracing the history of this unique craft.
At one time coracles would have been seen on most Welsh, English and Irish rivers. On display will be the Teifi, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge coracles and a replica Boyne curragh. Coracles are still used on Welsh rivers (Teifi and Tywi) to catch salmon and sewin and long may it continue!
